What are the four stages of the immune response
Phagocytosis , T-Cell Activation , B-Cell Activation , Anti-Body Production
1 of 6
What happens in phagocytosis & T-Cell Activation?
Phagocyte identifys pathogen by antigen on surface, engulfs pathy, forms phyagocytic vacuole, lysosmoses fuse into vacuole, digest pathogen, anti-gens presented. T-Cell activates - Activates by binding to protein, substance activ b-cell bind & kill
2 of 6
What happens in B-Cell activation & Anti-body production?
B-Cells - Antibodies bind (complimentary to that B-cell) -> AB-AG Complex - > B-Cell reproduces ( plasma cells) (mitosis) Anti-body production -> coats pathogen , neutralizing toxin
3 of 6
What is a vaccine?
Orally/Injected -> Orally could be broken down by enzymes in gut -> Antigen causes memory cells to be made ->pathogen waekened or dead -> bypasses primary straight to secondary
4 of 6
What is primary and secondary response?
Primary - > Slow, Not alot of B-Cells that recognize pathogen with specific complemntary antibodys. T&B cells produce memory cells, remain in body for long time. Secondary - > Same pathogen enters body again, quicker and stronger response ->
5 of 6
What is cellular & Humoral response?
T cells -> Cellular B-Cells -> Humoral
