Bit
is a binary digit, a bit can also mean and be 0/1- e.g. true or false, yes or no and on and off. 8 bits are equal to one byte

Byte
It is the smallest unit of data stored on a computer. It is also a unit in computing or telecommunications that most commonly consists of eight bits

Nibble
a nibble is half of a bit. It is the term given to a group of 4 bits.Therefore two nibbles make a byte

Resolution
A television technolodgy term. this means how many lines, pixels or dots are present over a standard length

Bit depth
Refers to the colour information stored in an image. the higher the bit depth of an image, the more colours it can store.

AND gate
an and gate has two inputs.

NOT gate
a NOT gate (inverter) has only one input and reverses the logic state.

OR gate
an OR gate can have two or more inputs. the output will be positive (true) if at least one input is true.

XOR gate
an XOR gate is an exclusive OR gate that means it must be either or 1 (not both).

Binary
a number system that uses only two values (0,1 ; on,off)

A truth table
A truth table is a way of presenting all possible possibilities. Truth tables are drawn to help you to calculate the outcome when you only know the income or the other way around.
