What is archiving
The process of storing records that are no longer needed for day-to-day use online, not under direct control of the computer. Archived data can still be retrieved.

What is the purpose of expanding storage space
1. To accommodate increased data volume 2. If the increase in data is needed online, then the amount of storage space will be allocated accordingly 3. As the volume of data grows, the systems will be carefully managed
