What are the ICD and the DSM used for?
Classifying mental health disorders (MHD) and other health issues with information on each disorder (symptoms causes treatments etc)

What does ICD stand for?
International Classification of Diseases

How are people classified/coded in the ICD?
Section for MHD, section is given a letter, then it is whittled down to categories of disorder (e.g. mood disorders), then numbers after that explain what the MHD is and then decimal points indicate severity/ whether they have physical symptoms etc

What does DSM stand for?
Diagnostics and statistical manual of Mental disorders

What does the first section of the DSM contain?
An introduction to the manual and showing how to use it etc

What does the second section contain?
A full classification of main mental health disorders (a list of them and their symptoms)

What does the third section contain?
Different ways to classify people according to cultural differences and disorders from other cultures, it also has info on treatment, symptom severity and dangers
