Statement made about the value of a population parameter. A hypothesis can be tested by carrying out an experiment or taking sample from the population.
1 of 7
Null hypothesis
Hypothesis that you assume to be correct.
2 of 7
Alternative hypothesis
Tells you about the parameter if your assumption is shown to be wrong.
3 of 7
Critical region
The region of the probability distribution which, if the test statistic falls within it, would cause you to reject the null hypothesis.
4 of 7
Critical value
The first value to fall inside of the critical region.
5 of 7
Acceptance region
Region where the null hypothesis is accepted.
6 of 7
Actual significance level
The probability of incorrectly rejecting the null hypothesis.
