What does Commitment mean?
Making and keeping a promise, such as wedding vows.

Decision not to have sex before marriage, for example, because sex is believed to be sacred.

Working against each other rather than in unity. Conflict in marriages can lead to divorce.

To have a deep affection and express it through words and actions.

To apologise or say sorry, and become freinds again. Many faiths have reconciliation services.

Duties that should be carried out, such as looking after family members.

Friends have a more Important role in your life. You choose your freinds. It is a duty to look after family. The ten commandments state how important it is too look after you family.

Sex is een as one of the three stages of mariage.

Why is contraception frowned upon in religion?
It is believed in Judaism that you are destroying the seed of life through using contraception. Roman catholics also believe that you will be going against Gods will by preventing the life.

What is believed to be the role purpose of Sex?
A natural instinct of life is to have children. A sign of deep personal commitment between a man and a woman. A way of giving oneself totally to another. Many sacred texts state the importance of having children.

Often held within a church. Vows are taken to show commitment. Singing hymns to worship God. Signing the register to show that the couple are married.

Recitation of the Qur'an. Agreement to the Mahr (contract). Exchange of vows. Contract signing.

Often held in a synagogue. Blessings of wine to symbolise joy and marriage. Signing the ketubah (contract). Breaking of a glass to show the fragility of mariage.

The vows taken can never be out of date. Religious traditions expect couples to enter marriage. More people are cohabiting to show commitment to each other. Many people have trial marriages first.

Is it necessary to marry in a place of worship? Give an answer for and against.
Many religious believers want a blessing in a place of worship. It doesn't matter where you get married as long as your intentions are right.

Should same sex relationships be allowed in a place of worship? Give an answer for and against.
If they both agree to the vows and love each other then it should be acceptable. Same sex relationships though are against the teachings of some religious traditions.

How is Divorce portrayed by Christians?
Divorce is accepted.

Divorce is allowed but only as a last resort. This can be forfilled by the man stating infront of his wife three times that the marriage is over.

Divorce is accepted but they must obtain both a civil and religious divorce. The husband must then give his wife a get (document of divorce)

Remarriage is dicouraged but if chosen, the wedding cannot often take place within a church.

Remarriage is allowed.

Remarriage can only occur 90 days after recieving the get.

Why do some marriages succeed and others fail? Give two examples for each.
Fall out of love with partner. Money worries. Comprimise over problems. Support from faith, such as prayers.
