How do you answer: Explain How OR Why (6 MARKS) Questions
'Why' needs reasons, 'how' needs ways. Do three fully ‘developed’ explanations to make sure. To gain higher marks you need to EXPLAIN HOW the point you are making led to the effect you have specified. Through in a fact.

START by saying why it was important on the one hand then add your reason-plus-explanations. NEXT - list/develop all the reasons it was NOT important. END - The 10th mark is for a conclusion.

1. Look at the content - does it prove something? 2. Look at the origin - does it prove something (use OK). 3. Look at the CONTEXT (i.e. date) - does it prove something? 4. CONCLUDE

1. Look at the CONTENT - measure its accuracy against what you know. 2. Look at its ORIGIN - would the writer have any reason to misrepresent the truth?
