Groups of immature cells within a plant that are still capable of dividing

Where are apical meristems found and what are they responsible for?
Found at the tips or apices of roots & shoots, and are responsible for the roots and shoots getting longer

Where are lateral bud meristems found and what are they responsible for?
Found in the buds, and are responsible for/give rise to side shoots

Where are intercalary meristems found and what are they responsible for?
Found between the nodes (where leaves and buds branch off stem) and growth between these nodes is responsible for the shoot growing longer

Where are lateral bud meristems found and what are they responsible for?
Found in cylinder near the outside of roots & shoots, and are responsible for the roots and shoots getting wider
