1. What was Germany's chance to escape military defeat?

2. How prepared was the German war economy?

  • Imperial Germany was instantly bankrupted by the war. To ensure weapons production continued the civilians were taxed mercilessly and because of this malnutrition and hypothermia increased.

5. Why were the allies stronger?

  • Britain and France were major colonial powers that call upon their overseas empires for manpower, resources and supplies.
  • The home front was working just as hard as the boys overseas. Women had entered the factories and so did not allow armament production to falter.
  • Their technology was far superior; they had completely mobilized the workforce to create advanced weapons such as tanks and machine guns.
  • They put prequations in place to portect their soldiers in the trenches from hypothermia and trench foot so that their military did not suffer from unnecessary casualties.
