How do we know so much about outer space?

?
What does an absorbiton sepectrum look like?
A coloured background with black lines.
1 of 8
What does an emmision sepctrum look like?
A black background with coloured lines.
2 of 8
What are the 2 models of light?
The wave model and the particle model.
3 of 8
Briefly describe the wave model.
Light is an electromagnetic wave with a wavelength and frequency. It can be calculated with the equation: Speed of Light=Wavelength*Frequency
4 of 8
Briefly describe the particle model
Light is a stream of packages of energy, photons. Energy of photon=Plancks constant*Frequency
5 of 8
Summerise Bohr's theory
Electrons become excited when they are energised. This causes them to move up an energy shell. They then loose energy and move back. This emittes energy at specific frequencies.
6 of 8
How can we demonstrate Bohr's theory?
With flame tests
7 of 8
What colours do Li, Na, Ca, Ba & Cu ions go in a flame test?
Bright red, Yellow, Lilac, Brick red, Apple green, Blue green
