What is a constructive plate boundary?
Convection currents in the mantle move the plates away from one another, not smooth, magma rises from under oceanic crust to form underwater volcanoes which grow into volcanic islands - Iceland.
1 of 22
What is a destructive plate boundary?
Convection currents in the mantle cause plates to move together where there is different types of crust - oceanic and continental. Oceanic - more dense, is subducted and causes friction. Heat from the mantle melts the oceanic crust into magma.
2 of 22
What is a conservative plate boundary?
Convection currents in the mantle cause plates to slide past one another at different speeds that can lead the plates to become locked together as of friction.
