Hormones act as chemical messages to tell parts of our body what to do.

The blood.

Thyroxin, controls rate of chemical reactions.

What is produced in the adrenal gland?
Adrenaline, makes body ready for action.

Male testerone.

Oestrogen and Progesterone.

What does Oestrogen do?
Causes repair of the uterus wall.

What does Progestrone do?
Maintains the uterus wall.

What hormone does the pancreas produce?
Insulin and glucagon.

What hormone does the pituitary gland produce?
Makes hormones that control other endocrine glands.

What is the 1st stage of the menstrual cycle?
The uterus lining breaks down and bleeding lasts for about 4 days.

What is the 2nd stage of the menstrual cycle?
lining of womb builds up, from day 4 to day 14 a thick spongy layer filled with blood vessels is ready to receive a fertilized egg.

What is the 3rd stage of the menstrual cycle?
An egg is developed and released from the ovary on day 14

What is the last stage in the menstrual cycle?
The wall is maintained until day 28, if there is no fertilized egg then the lining will break down and the cycle will start again.

What are the three hormones that control the menstrual cycle?
FSH, Oestrogen and LH.
