FSH
made in the pituitary; makes eggs mature in the ovaries and stimulates release of oestrogen
1 of 6
LH
made in the pituitary; stimulates release of a mature egg and causes release of progesterone.
2 of 6
oestrogen
made in the ovaries; causes the build up of the uterus, stops the release of FSH and causes the release of LH
3 of 6
progesterone
made in the corpus luteum; maintains uterus lining and when it falls the lining breaks down
4 of 6
oestrogen can be used as an oral conception
to stop FSH being released, so no eggs mature and no mature eggs = no pregnancy
5 of 6
FSH can be given as a fertility drug
to women who cannot produce enough of their own hormone to stimulate eggs to mature and be released
