What is homeostasis?
The regulation of conditions in the body such as temperature, water content and carbon dioxide levels.

What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition where the body cannot regulate its blood glucose levels.

Body temperature, Blood sugar level, Water content

What happens when your body heats up?
Sweat glands in the skin release more sweat. The sweat evaporates, removing heat energy from the skin.

What happens when your body is too cold?
Muscles contract rapidly - we shiver. These contractions need energy from respiration, and some of this is released as heat.

What is needed by cells for respiration?
Glucose

What is produced in the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels in blood?
Insulin

How can diabetes be treated?
By injecting insulin

What does the extra insulin do in the body?
The extra insulin causes the liver to convert glucose into glycogen
