Describe how Hitler took the Rhineland
marched in with 32,000 men. Britain said he was "going into his own backyard". Hitler said if anyone stopped them say it was a training exercise and no one did as occupied with Abyssinian crisis.

Describe how Hitler took the Saar and why he wanted it?
Held a plebiscite, 90% voted for the Saar to come under the control of Germany. It had coalfields it was very rich, it had German speaking people in it.

How did the Anschluss lead to WWII?
It led to WWII as it gave Hitler more confidence, he had gained more land, united German speaking people, Czechoslovakia was now surrounded. He had taken another step to war.

How did appeasement lead to war?
By giving into Hitler he was able to get the Sudetenland not just the German speaking parts at the Munich conference. It showed Hitler that Britain was weak and willing to appease so they didn't go to war.

How did the Nazi Soviet pact lead to war?
It provided Hitler with the confidence to invade Poland as he knew Russia and Germany had an alliance for 10 years and an agreement to split Poland into two. He would not be fighting a war on 2 fronts.

Describe how Hitler started to rearm.
In 1934 Hitler made the Anglo German Naval agreement this meant that Germany could have a navy the 1/3 of the size of Britain's. In 1935 their airforce increased, they introduced conscription again and their army trebled to 300,000 men.
