It changed dramatically, Berlin became famous for it's night life - daring floor shows, risqué song and naked dancing, it seemed very experimental and shocking.

After the war in Berlin, what type of balls became incredibly popular?
Transvestite balls. Hundreds of men in women's clothes and vice versa danced together. Sex was discussed openly, and homosexuality, which had been treated as a taboo before the war , was - at least in berlin - no longer frowned upon.

Sleazy, corrupt, daring and sex - obsessed. Other area's of Germany were not like this, they were shocked by Berlin's liberal attitudes.
