To weaken Germany but not too harshly so they could still trade. Wanted its empire and army reduced as it was in competition with Britain. DId not want communism to spread from Russia to Germany.

What did Wilson want from the League?
Peace. 14 points - self determination and disarming etc. Did not want Germany to seek revenge. Did not want communism.
