Hippocrates

the 4 humours (phlegm,blood,yellowbile and black bile) it was said that if these were un balanced then this is a reason why people get sick so what they do is they remove one of these to make them balanced again

Galen

galen looked at hippocrates work and he came up with the theory of opposites, galen suggested that if too much phlegm then this is linked to water and cold so he said that you should eat hot peppers , or maybe if you had a temprature to eat cucmbers

Andreas Vesalius

he found out that animals like pigs and monkeys have 2 bones in there jaw bone whereas humans only have one jaw bone also vesalius published a book called the fabric of the human body which showed ideas and drawings of muscles, organs and nerves

galen vs harvey and vesalius

galen said that veins carried blood and air but harvey said they only carry blood, galen said that the liver had five parts or lobes whereas vesalius showed that there is no lobes in the liver

Eward Jenner (vaccinations)

edward jenner carried out a test on a 8 year old boy he tested that if someone already had cowpox then they would not get smallpox, that worked when he put smallpox into a boys cuts, the boy did not catch smallpox and then he tried it on other people

Louis pasteurb (germ theory)

pasteur published the germ theory in 1861 his germ theory showed that there were mircrobes in the air which they cause decay. his work proved the idea or spontaneous generation was wrong because no decay happened if the matter was put in sealed pot

Robert Koch

koch looked at pasteurs work and he investigated weather bacteria is linked too disease, koch identified that specific microbes that cause the disease anthrax in sheep he also identified the mircbrobes TB in 1882 and those causing cholera in 1883

John Hunter

Hunter studied many aspects of the anatomy, hunter carried out experiments as part of a study on the sexually transmitted infection of syphilis and gonorrhoea
