all germans over the age of 20 could vote , there was a system of proportional representation , chancellor was responsible for day to day government , the head of state was the presedent but he had to stay out of the day to day government

if a party gained 20% of the votes they got 20% of the seats in the parliment (reichstag)

in an emergency through article 48 , gave him emergency powers which meant he didnt need to consult the reichstag
