When was the concept of blood transfusions first approached?
1667 by Jean-Baptiste Denys who carried out a cross-species tranfusion to a human. The patients died from the blood clotting but they didn't understand why.

That certain groups couldn't be mixed together as they would clog the blood vessels.

Sodium citrate.

Used to stop clotting. Blood able to be stored more easily.

What were the features of X-rays?
Pass easily through soft flesh but less well through bone. They also affect photographic film.

What's a CAT scan?
A scanner that rotate 180 degrees around the body, aiming thin beams of X-rays at receptors on the opposite side of the person. This produces a 3D image.

Antoine Henri Becqueral and Pierre and Marie Curie.

What are radioactive isotopes used for?
To treat cancer, immunosuppression and tracers in diagnosis.

What are the benefits of keyhole surgery?
Scars are smaller and recovery faster. Good for investigating causes of pain or infertility and other minor operations.
