Why was there a raise in the birth rate in Scotland between 1831-1931
People began getting married at younger ages and so they had larger families. Also food became more varied so people were healthier and stronger. Improvments in the conditons of the towns and better medcines meant more children survived.

Because of the growth of of the iron and steal industries, the railways, steam power and the use of gas growing in the towns and cities.
