Elizabeth created the poor law. this was when people who were able bodied were made to work. all the poor would go to their parish and they would provide money. the sick were given money at home.

Mary claimed to be the queen of england because Elizabeth was apparently illegitimate because her parents were divorced. this was when ELizabeth was ill in 1562.

Parliament-he dissovled parliament for 11 years and ruled without them. this brought everyone closer to war. MP's were jobless and the country were not happy.

many people thought that charles was a catholic. this was mainly because he married a catholic called Henrietta Maria. he also put gold into protestant churches which is a very catholic thing to do. this really fustrated puritans.

Charles owned his own court called the star chamber. He used to punsih people by cutting of their ears and noses. there was no jury. he thought he was above lawyers and laws.

charles was the king of england and scottland. The Scots had never accepted the new english prayer book and would refuse any services with bishops.

what was the scots reaction to the prayer book?
it was only until charles proposed the prayer book when the rebbeled and charles had to get an army to fight them. he raised more taxes and many refused to pay meaning he got himself into more trouble.

What happened with the demands of the long parliament?
parliament had had enough and something needed to happen. they decided to give him a set of demands to sign which did happen. this seemed to be fair and everything would be running smoothly. one included getting rid of the star chamber.

when parliament gave him another set of demands called the Nineteen Propositions and i feel like this was the last straw.

why was the propositions so bad?
i think the propositions are so bad as they are intervened with his private life which does not have to be spread. o e of which included parliament should control his kids education. this is not fair as these are his own kids.

people had always disagreed with religion and it was when everyone wanted to do different things (eg. get rid of bishops or laud) that MP's went on charles side.

why did parliament win the war?
they had motivated soliders and they were also paid. they had very good generals who came up with the new model army. Parliament also ruled over most of the land and more importantly london. this is where all the money was.

and where parliament could get more soliders. Protestants (who were on parliaments side) were also great at propaganda and they used this method to make people joing their army. the puritans also believed that god was on their side.

philip was also catholic and so was his country he was very annoyed that elizabeth had killed catholic monarchs but especially Mary.

if Spain had left to go and fight england, france would attack them so they had to wait,

The english had robbed his pirate ships and stolen gold. Elizabeth had also declined his marriage and elizabeth helped the dutch rebel.

i think this did because she did not have any distractions and she could make her own decisions.
