During the 14 years of the Weimar Republic, nine elections were held, two in 1924 and 1932. Consequently, the government was weak and unstable.

Hindenburg was President for nine years. He had a great deal of power as he could pass laws without discussing them with anyone. Hindenburg used Article 48 after 1930.
