What did suffragettes do to get attention?

The goverment had to find a way to treat the suffagettes what was it?
In 1913 the goverment therefore passed on act to release women who starved themselfs from prison. On release, the women had to agree to certain conditions and could be re-arrested and put back in prison once their health improved.
