At first, Nazis believed in the freedom for various denominations of Christianity.
But really, because 1/3 of Germans were Catholic and 2/3 were Protestant, Hitler began to view Churches as a threat

They promised to stay clear of each other

Then, Nazis began to close down churches and shut down monastries
The Catholic Youth Organisation was abolished

The Pope issued a statement called 'With Burning Anxieties'
In this, he publicly attacked the Nazis

Therefore, over 400 priests were arrested
They were sent to the concentration camps.

The Protestant churches set up the National Reich Church
It had copies of 'Mein Kampf' and swords. The swastika was everywhere.

Those who opposed Hitler like Niemöller and Bonhoeffer were sent to concentration camps.
They eventually died
