Why nationalists wanted Home Rule
didnt benefit from belonging to UK,they wanted freedom. Believed that Ireland had its own cultures and traditions so should rule itself. Felt that during famine Britain didnt treat Ireland well- could have dealt with it better themselves.t

Tactics adopted by Nationalists for Home Rule- Peaceful
GAA was formed in 1884 to promote Gaelic Sport and Gaelic League was formed in 1893 to promote Language and Culture, this was done by ordinary people to promote Irish Nationalism. John Redmond led a politic campaign from IPP.

Tactics adopted by Nationalists for Home Rule- Violent
Irish Volunteers- formed in Nov 1913 to campiang for Home Rule using violence. Leader- Eoin Mac Neill. Howth Gunrunning smuggled funs into Ireland on 26 July 1914. FAILED,bcause the authorities knew what was going to happen and seized weapons.
