It put up duties on imports to protect businesses, factories and farms.

Why were these acts put in place?
To make sure that people in the USA brought on their domestic market. Boosting America's economy. The American good was always to be cheaper than the same good brought abroad in Eurpoe for example.

How did Overproduction lead to a depression?
Too much product was being made therefore the products werent selling. They couldnt turn to the international market because of the Fordney McCumber Act in 1922. Price of Prodcut went down. They werent making money.
