When did Hindenburg die?
2nd August 1934. At the age of 87.

He was ina poor state of health, meaning he was not a strong political leader like before.

How did Hitler benefit?
- Could merge the offices of Chancellore and President into a Supreme Leader. - Able to control all affairs, wiht Nazi policies. - Hitler needed to take the president role otherwise a non-Nazi would take the place.

Technically illegal - but nobody raised any objections against Hitler.

The Law of the Army Oath.
Hitler made them swear an oath to him after Hindenburg died. This ment they couldent rise up against them - it would be considered treason and possible punishment of death.
