William Warham (1450 - 1532)
Archbishop of Canterbury & Lord Chancellor from 1504. 1509 - crowned H VIII & C of A, but represented cautious policies of old region which H was eager to disassociate self from. 1515 - W resigned --> replaced by Wolsey.

Louis XII (1462-1515)
King of F from 1498. Known as "Father of the People". 1514 - married H VIII's sister, Mary Tudor. Reign devoted to Italian Wars - proved costly & fruitless.

Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk, Earl of Surrey (1443 - 1524)
Fought against H VII at Bosworth --> imprisoned for 3 years. 1489 - released & given chance to prove loyalty to new regime. Fine soldier - finest hour was possibly his 1513 victory over James IV at Flodden. Never saw eye-to-eye with W.

Sir Thomas More (1478 - 1535)
Foremost English scholar & leading statesman. Helped H pen 1521 "A.S.S" - offered strong defence of Cath. orthodoxy. Utopia (1516) placed him among leading humanists of Europe. Opposed H's RS --> executed 1535

E king from 1413. 25th Oct 1415 - won over F at Agincourt. 2 yrs later - invaded F again. End 1418 - Normandy under E rule. 1420 - concluded Peace of Troyes --> H recognised as regent & heir of F.
