Foolish marching troops who were exhausted to calais, crossing river somme v difficult as french had taken precautions against it. French army mirrored eng progress on the other side of the river.

Gained half a day on the french and were able cross at a causeway. despite being protected with stakes, they crossed by rebuilding the causeway which was v risky, henry and forces crossed the somme by 19 october 1415

phillip the good of the Burgundians got an alliance with the english after murder of his dad. phillips faction were more likely to support the queen in court who were more inclined to come to terms with the english, led to the treaty of troyes

henry recognised as french heir until charles IV died, henry was to marry catherine of valois, english and burgundians worked together to prevent the dauphin from challenging the treaty
