In 1166 Henry sent his forces to assert his authority and arranged for Conan's daughter and heir, Constance to marry his son Geoffrey. Conan was then forced to abdicate the thrown in favour of the couple.

Henry married Eleanor in 1152 who was the Duchess of Aquitaine which allowed Henry to expand into France, her firs marriage made her Queen of France but with the divorce she became Queen of England in marrying Henry.
