1)Blood Vessels 2)The Heart 3)The Blood
1 of 13
What is double circulation?
One system is the circulation of the blood from the heart to the lungs and then back to the heart which allows gas exchange. The other transports blood from the heart to the body's organs
2 of 13
What kind of blood returns to the heart from the lungs?
Oxygenated blood
3 of 13
What are the coronary arteries?
The arteries that carry oxgenated blood to the organs of the heart
4 of 13
What kind of muscle is the heart made of?
Cardiac muscle
5 of 13
Do both sides of the heart beat at the same time?
Both sides fill and empty at the same time which gives a strong coordinated heartbeat
6 of 13
Why is the muscle on the wall of the left ventricle thicker?
Allows ventricle to develop much more pressure which is needed to pump the blood around the entire body
7 of 13
What are the top chambers of your heart called?
Atria
8 of 13
Where does deoxygenated blood from the body come from?
The vena cava...goes into right atrium
9 of 13
Where does the oxygenated blood from the lungs come from?
The pulmonary vein...goes into left atrium
10 of 13
How is blood moved from atria to ventricles?
Atria contract together and blood is forced down into the ventricles and valves close to stop backflow
11 of 13
How is blood forced put of the heart?
Ventricles contract and blood is forced out of the aorta if it is oxygenated and in the left ventricle and out of the pulmonary artery if it is deoxygenated and from the right ventricle
