Cystic Fibrosis, definition
passed on genetically and effects babies at birth, lungs and digestive system become blocked with mucus, interferes with day to day for example digesting

gene carried on called CETA this is when living cells become scrambled and mussed up with parts of the body not working very well.

persistent coughing, recurring chest and lung infections, poor weight gain, babies sweat seems very salty

babies are screened & small amount of blood is taken 'heel', antenatal testing done when babies in the womb & take place at 10 months- a fine needle is passed through abdomen into the womb sweat test- electric current on the skin, sweat measure

no proven cure, antibiotics to treat chest and lung infections, bronchodilators- type of medication helps to expand airways, physiotherapy- range of exercise help clear mucus from the lungs, lung transplant may be required
