Caring for people who are unwell including carrying out simple surgical procedures, they also provide preventative care and health education for service users.

Responsibilities of a Doctor
- diagnose an individuals illness/ ailment, discuss and agree on a treatment plan, prescribe appropriate medication or treatment, monitor the impact of the agreed treatment.

Adult Nurse
Adult nurses work with adults of all ages, they may have a wide range of physical health conditions, they can be based in hospitals, clinics, GP practices or work for specialised organisations such as the armed forces.

Mental Health Nurse
These nurses specialise in mental health, they work in a range of different settings such as psychiatric units, hospitals, community healthcare centres, day care settings, residential homes and prisons.

Paediatric Nurse
Paediatric nurses work with children with a very wide range of conditions, they will also work very closely with the child's parents or carers

Learning Disability Nurse
These types of nurses mainly work with individuals who have learning disabilities or who are living in the community rather than in hospitals.

District Nurse
District Nurses care for individuals of all ages, supporting them in there own homes or or in residential homes.

Neonatel Nurses
They work with newborn babies including babies who are born prematurely.

They provide support for families in early years (birth- 5 years), health issues, minor illnesses and advice on feeding.

Practice Nurses
Practice nurses work in GP practices and often work alone but sometimes as part of a larger team. (blood samples, child immunisation programmes, vaccinations to people travelling abroad)

Usually employed by the NHS or directly by a school, variety of services offered such as developmental child's immunisation programmes and health education programmes.

support women through all stages of pregnancy, provide both antenatal and postnatal care, help families prepare for parent hood, deliver babies in the maternity unit in hospitals or at home.

Healthcare Assistants
HCA's work under the guidance and support of qualified healthcare professionals. They may work in GP practices, hospitals nursing homes and other community healthcare settings.

They work with people of all ages who are having difficulty in carrying out the practical routines of daily life. For example washing and bathing, housework, cooking or getting to the shops.
