What is Chlamydia?
A bacterial sexually transmitted infection.

What are the causes of Chlamydia?
Having unprotected sex with an infected person.

What are the symptoms of Chlamydia?
Pain/Burning when urinating. Bleeding during/after sex/heavier periods. Pain in the lower abdomen. Change in discharge. (Men only: Discharge from tip of penis. Pain in the testicles.)

What is the treatment for Chlamydia?
A short course of antibiotics. Refraining from sex until symptoms have gone and be given the all clear after a follow-up appointment.

What is Obesity?
The state of being excessively overweight, through having an excess layer of fat under the skin. If a person has a BMI of over 30 they are classed as obese.

What are the causes of Obesity?
An energy imbalance e.g. consuming too many calories and not burning them off. Poor diet. Lack of physical activty. Underactive thyroid. Family eating habits.

What are the treatments for Obesity?
Drawing up a weight loss diet plan. Increasing physical activity. Orlistat, to prevent further weight gain. Appeitite suppresants. Surgery (gastric bands/wire of jaw) in severe cases.

What is Type 1 diabetes?
A condition where the body does not produce insulin, due to insulin producing cells being destroyed.

What are the causes of Type 1 diabetes?
Having a virus/other infection, which stimulates the body to destroy the cells. Family History.

What are the symptoms of Type 1 diabetes?
Feeling extremely thristy. Needing the toilet a lot. Fatigue. Loss of weight/muscle bulk. Blurred vision.

What are the treatments of Type 1 diabetes?
Insulin therapy rhrough injections or pumps. Changes to diet.

What is Bulimia Nervosa?
A mental health disorder classed as an eating disorder, characterised by sufferers controlling their weight through restricted food intake and periods of bingeing and purging.

What are the causes of Bulimia Nervosa?
Low-self esteem. Family History. Puberty. Media influences. Going through a stressful life event e.g. a death in the family.

What are the symptoms of Bulimia Nervosa?
Fluctuations in weight. Obsessive over food. Bingeing and Purging. Cutting down on food intake. Periods may stop.

What are the treatments for Bulimia Nervosa?
CBT. Interpersonal Therapy. Antidepressants. Family Therapy. Education with a dietician about healthy diets.
