We need to exercise to ensure we maintain our health and wellbeing. Exercise is a lifestyle factor that can bring many benefits
Benefits: help us to concentrate, relieve stress, relax and feel good, gain personal satisfaction and socialise with others

Exercise: Getting enough exercise is essential and can prevent heart disease and strokes - two of the UK's top five killers. Doing at least 2.5 hours of moderate physical activity a week, in 30-min sessions, improves health
Exercise: Any type of exercise (e.g. using stairs rather than a lift) helps your heart to be healthier. Moderate exercise causes your heart to beat faster, increases your breathing rate and makes you sweat.

Exercise can also lower your blood pressure and cholesterol level
Exercise: Some 'smart' devices help you monitor your exercise. They do this by keeping track of steps or heart rate. This means you can check your activity level each day or week

Taking Exercise: e.g going for a walk or a jog is free, joining a gym or taking classes, swimming and cycling are holistic aerobic activities, and joining a team (football or netball) may provide a social side in addition to exercise
Taking Exercise: Some people are happier to take their exercise alone. For others, it's an opportunity to meet new people or pair up with a friend

When exercising, your brain releases hormones called endorphins, which provide a feeling of wellbeing (you'll feel happier)
Taking Exercise: Even those with mobility problems can take exercise. E.g. residents in care homes are frequently offered standing or armchair exercise.

Not Taking Exercise: A lack of exercise can lead to many conditions, e.g. stiffening of the joins, poor stamina, strength and suppleness, obesity,stroke, CHD, poorly developed heart+skeletal muscles, sluggish blood flow or osteoporosis
Not Taking Exercise: Any one of these conditions means that health andn wellbeing will suffer
