Word equation of haber process
Nitrogen + Hydrogen ⇌ Ammonia
1 of 12
Balanced equation of the haber process
N2 + 3H2 ⇌ NH3
2 of 12
What is equilibrium?
Forward reaction i happening at the exact same rate as the backward reaction.
3 of 12
What is dynamic equilibrium?
Forward and backward reactions happen at the same rate and the concentrations have reached a balance that won't change.
4 of 12
What 2 type of reactions are in reversible reactions?
Exothermic and endothermic.
5 of 12
What is Le Chaltier's principle?
Any change made to concentration, pressure in gases and temperature will shift the equilibrium position in the direction that opposes that change.
6 of 12
Which side will the equilibrium position shift to if the temperature is increased?
The endothermic side - takes in heat, decreases surrounding temperature.
7 of 12
Which side will the equilibrium position shift to if the temperature is decreased?
Exothermic side - gives out heat and increases surrounding temperature.
8 of 12
Which side will equilibrium shift if pressure is increased?
The side which has fewer moles of gas (number in front of molecules, no number =1)
9 of 12
Which side will equilibrium shift if pressure is decreased?
The side that has greater moles of gas.
10 of 12
Which side will equilibrium shift if the concentration of reactants is increased?
The forward reaction to increase the amount of products
11 of 12
Which side will equilibrium shift if the concentration of products is increased?
The backward reaction to increase the amount of reactants.
