Flexography
Uses a flexible rubber or plastic plates for the cylinders rotary presses. This is often used for long runs of low cost printing such as PACKAGING, POINT OF SALE DISPLAY MATERIALS and CARTONS.

Gravure
Most widely used commercial application. The plates used are reproduced photographically with the images broken into dots. These are then etched onto the plates as cells and the darker areas of the picture have deeper cells than the lighter areas.

Lithography
Principal that water and grease do not mix. Plate is used photgraphically and divided into areas that attract grease (the ink) and areas that attract water. Before printing the plate is made wet. Non-printing areas will repel the ink Packaging/poster

Offset Litho
Modern method of Lithography. The inked image is transferred or offsetted to the rubber surface of a rotating metal cylinder. This brings in less water into contact with the paper and enables a finer copy to be produced.

Batch Production
Most efficient and cheapest type of production. Groups of Items move through different stages of the production process at the same time.
