What does it mean to say that God is simple?

What does Augustine say about Gods simplicity?
God is simple so he is unchangeable. He cannot gain or loose any characteristics.

God is God, God is unchanging and God is immaterial.

God is God
Aquinas says that Gods nature and Gods existence is the same thing. Davies believes that God is not a thing like a human being but is a thing in the same sense as you might talk about the human race as a 'whole'.

God is Unchanging
God is eternal and perfect. He is the cause of all change. Davies says that anything that changes in the world is part of it. God isnt part of this world, he is distinct from it therefore he cannot change.

God is Immaterial
Aquinas belives that if God is immaterial he doesnt have a body which has characteristics.

What are the criticisms of Gods simplicity?
How can a simple God love people? God must have no freedom if simplicity is true? God isnt described as simple in the Bible.
