What is a specific target?
A goal set to target a sepcific aspect of performance to develop which you can actively focus on.

What is a measurable target?
As a way of knowing if you have achieved your goals, a measurable target is one that contains a time or a measurable aspect.

Allows a definite 'met' or 'non-met' statement to be made.

Taking 0.1 seconds off of their 100m time.

What is an achievable target?
A goal that is within reach of the performer. It should be challenging but attainable.

A performer might become demotivated if they don't achieve a goal and are more likely to chase a goal if it is within reach.

This is when a goal can be written down so that they are not forgotten and can be easily altered if too difficult.

Makes the target more set in stone and more meaningful.

What is a timd target?
Goals should have time limits. This gives the performer a push to reach their goal in that time and ecide if they have been successful by the end of it.

Performer can assess whether they have hit given target at any point.

Setting a target to run 1500m in under five minutes by the end of the season.
