Glucose metabolism

?
Glycogen synthesis steps
glucoseglucose-6-phosphate>glucose-1phosphate>UDP-glucose (intermediate)>glycogen
1 of 11
what enzyme is glucose to 6-phosphate
hexokinase-muscle glucokinase-liver
2 of 11
what enzyme for 6-phosphate to 1-phosphate?
phosphoglucomutase.
3 of 11
What enzyme is 1-phosphate to UDP-glucose
pyrophosphorylase
4 of 11
what enzyme for UDP-glucose to glycogen
glucogen synthase
5 of 11
Glycogen degradation
glycogen chain >glucose 1-phosphate>glucose-6-phosphate
6 of 11
What enzyme for glycogen to 1-phosphate
glycogen phosphorylase.
7 of 11
what enzyme for 1-phosphate to 6-phosphate
phosphoglucomutase (same as reversible)
8 of 11
What enzyme for 6-phosphate to glucose? where is this enzyme found?
glucose-6-phosphatase only found in liver as in muscle 6-P goes straight into glycolysis.
9 of 11
what are the three enzymes highly regulated in the glycolysis pathway.
The irreversible reactions, hexokinase and glucokinase in glucose->6P. phosphofructokinase in fructose-6P to fructose1,6biphosphate. and pyruvate kinase PEP->pyruvate.
10 of 11
How is phosphofructokinase also regulated?
By the amount of ATP, ATP and citrate inhibit the enzyme where as AMP increase it. this means in times with little ATP available the reaction takes place so ATP can be synthesised.
