?
What are these processes called?
Abrasion and Plucking
1 of 6
What does Freeze-thaw Weathering Provide?
Material for Abrasion and the formation of Morraines
2 of 6
What is plucking?
When the pressure of a glacier causes ice to melt and freeze onto the bottom of the glacier, pulling the rock face and collecting rock pieces in the bottom.
3 of 6
How does freeze-thaw weathering work?
When water which gets into cracks and hollows in rocks during the day then freezes at night. The water expands, putting pressure on the rocks and widening the cracks. When the weather is warm, the ice melts and the water thaws. This process repeats.
4 of 6
What happens to rock material left from freeze-thaw weathering?
