Name the 3 glacial erosion processes.
Freeze thaw weathering, Plucking, Abrasion
1 of 6
Describe the process of Freeze thaw weathering.
1. (day) Water collects in a crack in the rock. 2. (night) This water then freezes, the crack is winded by the freezing. 3. This process repeats until rock fragment breaks off and collects at foot of rock face.
2 of 6
Describe the process of plucking.
1. Ice freezes to a section of the ground. 2. Ice continues to flow down the slope. 3. A piece of the ground is plucked up by the ice.
3 of 6
Describe the process of Abrasion.
(similar to sandpaper!) As the ice moves, bits of rock and sediment in its base scrape the ground.
