Past 40 years there has been important legislation that has impacted position of women in society. The Equal Pay & Sexual Discrimination Acts to Equality and Diversity Act - each of these has encouraged women into employment & acted as motivation.

There is still not equality in jobs. At Least One-Fourth of Women Experience Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. According to the US Department of Labor, women who worked full-time year-round earned 79 percent as much as their male counterparts.

Changes to employment patterns have meant that many of the traditionally male jobs such as manufacturing & manual labour have been replaced with service sector & customer facing jobs which favour women's employment opportunities & career progression
