80 men and women (14-77 yrs) were asked about their experences of moral conflict in an interview. The answers were classified in terms of having a care or justice focus.

Results: 35% of female ppts and 2% of male ppts showed a focus on care. 29% of female ppts and 65% of male ppts showed a focus on justice. Conclusion: Supports Gilligan's theory.

Gilligan followed a psychoanalytic theory with boys internalising their fathers perspectives which were focused on justice and girls internalising their mother's perspectives which were focused on care.
