What was the result of the July 1932 election?
The Nazis won 230 seats in the Reichstag and 37% of teh votes. Hitler wanted the Chancellorship but Hindenburg gave it to Von Papen.

How did Hitler become Chancellor?
Von papen was replaced by Von Schleicher so made a deal with Hitler, he convinced Hindenburg to make Hitler Chancellor because they thought they could control him.

Why did people vote for the Nazis?
People didn't trust the Weimar politicians, people liked their anti-Communist message, rich people sponsored their campaign, Goebbels used radios, papers and posters for propaganda, he had a simple message, he promised to provide jobs and used the SA

Hitler persuded Hindenburg to dissolve parliament so a new election meant that more Nazi's gained seats. A Dutch Communist was blamed for the fire so Hitler got a state of emergency. This limited free speech, press, right to assemble and imprisonment

How did the Enabling Act effect Hitler's rise to power?
Hitler banned Communists from voting and secured a majority vote to pass the Enabling Act. He could pass whatever laws he wanted and removed Jews and political opponents from civil service, banned trade unions, banned formation of parties.

How did the Night of the Long Knives effect Hitler's rise to power?
Ernst Rohm wanted to control the German army so could rival Hitler. Hitler got the ** to shoot 400 SA members of the SA including Ernst Rohm. This meant no-one could rival Hitler.

He combined the titles of Chancellor and President to Fuhrer. He got 90% of the Presidential election so had total control.
