The Kaiser abdicated and went to exile in Holland after being given an ultimatum by the social democrats. The next day Armistice was agreed.

A communist revolt was led by Karl Liebnecht and Rosa Luxemburg to try and takeover Berlin. They were defeated by the Freikorps.

Friedrich Ebert, leader of the Social Democrats, formed a democratic government in Weimar and was appointed President. Scheidemann was Chancellor.

June 28th 1919 - Signing of the Treaty of Versailles
The Allies put together a treaty which Germany had no choice but to sign. It said Germany had to pay reparations, take full blame for the war, reduce its armed forces and lose its empire.

March 13-17th 1920 - Kapp Putsch
When the government tried to disband the Freikorps, on orders of the Allies, they rebelled and tried to set up a new national government in Berlin. The army didn't stop them and the workers striked.
