What are the benefits of globalisation?
Growth in manafacturing jobs, growth in tourism, increased personal wealth, growth in tax revenue, introduction of new skills, introduction of new technologies, encourage cultural diversity and encourages political stability.

Why do some people see globalisation as a threat?
Threat to cultural diversity, migration causes social tensions, MNC's are often foreign owned and profit goes out of country, working conditions are often poor with child labour, increase in pollution levels+ loss of international identity

What have been the negative social impacts of the enlargement of the EU?
Racial tensions. Pressure on resources (schools).

What have been the positive social impacts of the enlargement of the EU?
Multicultural diversity (Polish isle in Tesco - more choice to UK diets), learning new languages + increased opportunity to travel.

What have been the positive economic impacts of the enlargement of the EU?
Trade = EU is the world's largest single market. Jobs created. EU grants have been able to build infastructure projects, farmers recieve payments from EU tax payers.

What have been the negative economic impacts of the enlargement of the EU?
UK has been forced to borrow money to help 'bail out' countries like Ireland + EU money comes from taxing the people in the EU.

How have newly industrialised countries such as India and China benefited from globalisation? Economic impacts
More jobs, Growth of middle class, Increased taxes, Overseas investements, economic growth due to their interdependence in the global economy.

Better healthcare and education paid for by increased taxes, chance to travel + brain drain.

How have patterns of trade hindered economic progress in the least economically developed countries?
LEDCs are over-reliant on the export of raw materials and import of expensive manafactured goods. MEDCs may dump excess or subsidised produce on countries destroying local industries. Balance of trade - exports minus imports favour MEDCs
