Gross National Product (GNP) per capita is a country's GNP, divided by its population (Per capita means per person).

It is able to show differences in levels of development within a country as well as between countries. It also combines economic and social indicators which represents the quality of life better.

Aid is money or resources that are given or lent on favourable terms to developing countries.

Trade can be unfair as poorer countries mainly export low-value primary goods while richer countries mainly export expensive manufactured goods. The poorer countries therefore make much less.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) is an international body whose purpose is to promote free trade by persuading countries to abolish import tariffs and other barriers.

The Fair Trade Organisation guarantees that the producer receives a fair price for their product regardless of the price on the world market. This means their quality of life should improve.
