Advanced Countries - A group of countries classified by the IMF as higher class. For example UK, USA, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and Spain.

Gross National Income - A measurement of economic activity (goods, services and overseas investments) that is calculated by dividing the gross (total) national income by the size of the population.

Birth rate - The number of births a year per 1000 of the total population

NEE
Newly Emerging Economy - About 80 countries that have begun to experience higher rates of economic growth, usually due to rapid factory expansion and industrialization. The number of these countries has increased rapidly in recent decades du to glob.

The percentage of people who have access to water that does not carry a health risk such as cholera.

Literacy Rates - The percentage of people with basic reading and writing skills

High Income Country - A group of about 80 countries classified by the World Bank as having high average incomes (GNI per capita) of US$12,736 (2015). Around half are sometimes called 'developed' countries.

Human Development Index - A measure of development which includes the country's wealth, average life expectancy and adult literacy rates to allow comparison of economic and social development with other countries.
